Overview
On behalf of the IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Society (GRSS) and the IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium (IGARSS) 2026 Organizing Committee, we are pleased to invite submissions to the 46 th IGARSS which will take place 9-14 August 2026 in the international city of Washington, DC, USA. As the flagship conference of the IEEE GRSS, IGARSS 2026 is set to be an exceptional event, bringing together the global community of geoscience and remote sensing professionals.\n\nConference Theme: "The Future of Earth Observations"\n\nThe IGARSS 2026 theme is to address the evolving technical, scientific, and policy landscape of Earth observations, remote sensing, and geoscience. IGARSS 2026 will highlight the essential contribution of Earth observations and remote sensing in understanding and monitoring the global environment. The conference aims to foster international cooperation in developing global solutions to understand our planet, positioning it as an essential gathering for researchers dedicated to advancing remote sensing technologies for a sustainable future.\n\nTopics of Interest: We encourage submissions in line with the GRSS Fields of Interest which span science and engineering, and include theory, concepts, and techniques of remote sensing of the Earth, oceans, atmosphere, and space, as well as the processing, interpretation, and dissemination of this information. This includes:\n- Remote Sensing of Land and Surface Processes\n- Remote Sensing of the Atmosphere and Oceans\n- Remote Sensing of the Cryosphere\n- Remote Sensing of Solid Earth and Geodynamic Processes\n- Remote Sensing and Mitigation of Natural Disasters\n- Remote Sensing Data Processing Techniques\n- Electromagnetics and Radiative Transfer\n- Sensors, Platforms, and Instruments for Remote Sensing\n- Education, Standards and Policy\n\nSubmission Guidelines: Authors are invited to submit abstracts or papers in one of the three options below through the IGARSS 2026 submission portal which will open 15 November 2025. Note that paper submission with these three options continues the format established by IGARSS 2025. Submission options are:\n- Full paper: 4-page limit, excluding references in standard two-column IEEE format; required for inclusion in IEEE Xplore or consideration for the Student Paper Competition;\n- Abstract: 400-600 words, will not be published in IEEE Xplore;\n- Recently Published Article: Papers published as peer-reviewed articles after January 1, 2025 in relevant journals ranked within Q1 based on the current International Scientific Indexing (ISI) or Scientific Journal Ranking (SJR).\n\nAll submissions will undergo a peer-review process with accepted submissions placed in either oral or poster sessions. Only the accepted full papers (option 1 above) will be included in the conference proceedings and published in IEEE Xplore, ensuring high visibility and impact.\n\nWe look forward to your valuable contributions and welcoming you to Washington, DC for IGARSS 2026!
