Overview
The 36th British Machine Vision Conference (BMVC 2025) will be held from November 24-27, 2025, in Sheffield, UK. As a major international conference on machine vision, image processing, and pattern recognition, BMVC is organized by the British Machine Vision Association (BMVA).
Call for Papers
The 36th British Machine Vision Conference (BMVC 2025) is one of the major international conferences on computer vision and related areas, organized by the British Machine Vision Association (BMVA). BMVC 2025 will be an in-person event held from 24th - 27th November 2025 in Sheffield, UK.
We invite submissions of high-quality papers in image processing, computer vision, machine learning, and related areas. Submitted papers will be refereed on originality, presentation, empirical results, and evaluation quality. Accepted papers will be included in the conference proceedings, published and DOI-indexed by BMVA. Past proceedings are online at the BMVA proceedings website.

Papers submitted under the “Brave new ideas” subject area are expected to move away from incremental benchmark gains. Proposed ideas should radically differ from the current research strand or propose a novel problem.
Submission Guidelines
- Papers should not exceed NINE pages (references are excluded).
- Appendices should be submitted via the supplementary information.
- The submission portal is available via OpenReview.
- BMVC will not have a rebuttal period this year.
- Further guidance for authors can be found in the Author Guidelines page.
- Authors are asked to be prepared to review papers. Failure to engage with the reviewing process might be grounds for rejection.
Important Dates
Please note all deadlines are at 23:59 GMT.
- Abstract Submission Deadline: Tuesday, 13 May 2025
- Paper Submission Deadline: Friday, 16 May 2025
- Supplementary Material Submission: Friday, 16 May 2025
- Author Notifications: Friday, 25 July 2025
- Camera Ready for Papers: Friday, 29 August 2025
Reviewing Process
- Each paper will be reviewed by at least three reviewers.
- An Area Chair will provide a meta-review, summarizing the reviewers’ points and recommending paper decisions.
- Due to the anticipated volume of papers, there will be NO extension granted to the submission deadline.
Publication
- Accepted papers will be included in the conference proceedings, published and DOI-indexed by BMVA.
- Top papers from BMVC 2025 will be invited to submit extended versions to a special issue of the International Journal of Computer Vision (IJCV).
