Submission Guidelines

  • All submissions must be written in English.
  • Papers should be submitted electronically, in PDF format, through the EasyChair submission system: https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=umap2025, selecting the “UMAP25 Full and Short Papers” track.

Format

  • Long papers: (8 pages at most plus additional pages for references) should report on substantial contributions of lasting value. Each accepted long paper will be included in the main conference proceedings and presented in a plenary session.
  • Short papers: (4 pages at most plus additional pages for references) typically discuss exciting new work that is not yet mature enough for a long paper. Each accepted short paper will be included in the main conference proceedings and presented either as an oral presentation or at a poster session.
  • Supplementary material should be linked to an external source using an anonymized link.

Anonymity

  • Submissions must be anonymous due to the double-blind review process.
  • Omit names and affiliations, and avoid obvious identifying statements. Cite prior work in the third person.
  • Failure to anonymize may result in desk rejection.
  • It is acceptable to refer to companies or organizations if there is no implication of author affiliation.
  • Use anonymous repositories like https://anonymous.4open.science for code and materials.

Templates

  • LaTeX: Use the latest version of the Primary Article Template – LaTeX. Start with \documentclass[sigconf,review,anonymous]{acmart} for double-column output. Follow ACM’s LaTeX best practices guide. Do not use the “manuscript” option.
  • Overleaf: Use \documentclass[sigconf,review,anonymous]{acmart}. Follow ACM’s instructions for preparing your article with Overleaf.
  • Word: Use the double-column Word template. Follow ACM’s instructions for preparing your article with Microsoft Word, ignoring single-column instructions.

Accessibility

Authors are strongly encouraged to provide “alt text” for floats (images, tables, etc.) and follow ACM Accessibility Recommendations for Publishing in Color and SIG ACCESS guidelines on describing figures.

Submission Policy

  • All submissions and reviews are handled electronically.
  • ACM UMAP has a no dual submission policy.
  • Authors must adhere to ACM Publications Policies, including policies on Research Involving Human Participants and Subjects.
  • Authors are required to obtain an ORCID ID.

Review Process

  • Review: ACM UMAP uses a double-blind review process.
  • Reviewers will evaluate papers based on significance, originality, rigor, and contribution.
  • Papers out of scope, incomplete, or lacking evidence may be rejected without full review.
  • A rebuttal stage will be available for authors to optionally discuss the initial decision.
  • The ACM Code of Ethics will be considered, and papers perpetuating harmful stereotypes or employing unethical research practices may be desk-rejected.

Registration and Presentation Policy

  • Each accepted paper requires a distinct full author registration by the early registration date.
  • Each accepted paper must be presented in person to be included in the conference proceedings and ACM Digital Library.

Camera-ready Submission

  • Accepted papers will require revisions to meet camera-ready format requirements.
  • LaTeX/Overleaf is recommended for camera-ready papers.
  • Instructions for preparing camera-ready versions will be provided after acceptance.
  • Camera-ready versions will be submitted using ACM’s production platform.

Ethical & Human Subjects Considerations

  • ACM UMAP expects papers to include a discussion of ethical considerations and impact where appropriate.
  • Authors must comply with ethical standards and regulatory guidelines for human subjects research.
  • Papers reporting on human subjects research must include a statement identifying regulatory review and approval or explaining the lack thereof.
