Overview
The 56th International Simulation and Gaming Association (ISAGA) Conference 2025 will take place from July 15-18, 2025, in Stuttgart, Germany. The conference theme is "Shaping the Future through Simulation & Gaming" and integrates with the European Simulation And Gaming Forum (EUPF). It also features the Global Simulation & Gaming Award and is preceded by the ISAGA Summer School 2025.
ISAGA Conference 2025: Call for Contributions
The ISAGA Conference 2025, themed "Shaping the Future through Simulation and Gaming," was held in Stuttgart, Germany, from July 15-18, 2025. The call for contributions has now closed.
Conference Theme
"Shaping the Future through Simulation and Gaming". The conference welcomed contributions that explore the role of simulation and gaming in addressing future-oriented topics, including:
- Artificial intelligence, big data and automation
- Augmented and virtual reality
- Sustainability and climate change
- Resilience and adaptability
- City and spatial planning, infrastructure use or development (transport, energy, water…)
- Urban planning and public participation
- New work and organisational development
- Society in transition
- Innovative social work
- Lifelong learning and future skills
- Future-oriented learning and teaching in schools, universities and other institutions
- Research on facilitation and evaluation
- Innovations in the public sector
- National and international conflicts
- Dealing with crisis and disaster management
Submissions were welcome from various simulation and gaming aspects, including new games, methods, areas of application, facilitation, and evaluation.
Types of Contributions
- Scientific Papers: Present qualitative or quantitative empirical research, background research, literature reviews, or theoretical analyses. Accepted papers allowed for oral presentation. Submissions required 6-15 pages, abstract (150-250 words), in English, following the Springer LNCS format, and submitted anonymously. All papers were peer-reviewed double-blind. Excellent short and long papers were planned for publication in Springer Lecture Notes.
- Best Practice Papers: Focused on practical approaches, experience reports, case studies, and guidance for practical applications. Accepted papers allowed for oral presentation. Submissions required 4-15 pages, abstract (150-250 words), in English. Selected papers were planned for publication in the ZMS publication series.
- Posters: For work and ideas at an early stage. Abstracts (300-600 words) were required for submission and acceptance. Authors were expected to attend the conference.
- Workshops: Interactive events centered on a topic, issue, or game, involving participants in hands-on exploration and creation. Proposals required the name(s) of the organizer(s), a summary (300-600 words) detailing the topic, activities, structure, setup, and facilitators. Requested time slots were 60 or 90 minutes.
- Outside the box: For creative ideas beyond classic submission types (e.g., small games, new methods, warmups). Proposals required the name(s) of the organizer(s), a summary (300-600 words) detailing the topic, and an explanation of the design, time frame, spatial requirements, and attendee involvement.

- Deadline for submitting posters, workshops and outside the box submissions: February 16, 2025
- Notification of acceptance: March 31, 2025
- Deadline for revised papers: May 15, 2025
