IEEE VIS 2025: Call for Participation

IEEE VIS 2025 is the premier forum for advances in theory, methods, and applications of visualization and visual analytics. The conference will be held in Vienna, Austria, from November 2 to 7, 2025.

Call for Participation Types

IEEE VIS 2025 solicits novel research contributions and innovative applications. Submission categories include:

Areas of Focus

Submissions are categorized into the following areas:

• Area 1: Theoretical & Empirical: Foundational research defining VIS as a scientific subject.
• Area 2: Applications: All forms of application-focused research.
• Area 3: Systems & Rendering: Building systems, algorithms for rendering, and alternate input/output modalities.
• Area 4: Representations & Interaction: Designing visual representations and interaction techniques.
• Area 5: Data Transformations: Algorithms and techniques for data transformation for effective visual mapping.
• Area 6: Analytics & Decisions: Integrated workflows for visual data analysis, knowledge discovery, and decision support.

Publication Venue

Full papers accepted to IEEE VIS will appear in a special issue of the IEEE Transactions on Visualization and Computer Graphics (TVCG) and will be indexed in IEEE Xplore.

Important Dates

All deadlines are at 11:59pm (23:59) Anywhere on Earth (AoE).

• Abstract submission (MANDATORY): March 21, 2025
• Paper submission: March 31, 2025
• Notification of results of first review cycle: June 6, 2025
• Paper submission for second review cycle: July 1, 2025
• Final notification: July 15, 2025
• Camera-ready copy: August 8, 2025

Submission Guidelines and Reviewing Criteria

IEEE VIS expects important, impactful, and potentially transformative contributions. Submissions will be judged on their scientific quality, novelty, potential impact, appropriateness of methodology, and research process. Selected papers are conditionally accepted and undergo a full revision and review cycle.

Open Access Policy
