The Twentieth European Conference on Technology-Enhanced Learning (ECTEL 2025) will be held from 15-19 September 2025 in Newcastle and Durham, UK. The conference theme is 'Two Decades of TEL: from Lessons Learnt to Challenges Ahead'. ECTEL 2025 engages researchers, practitioners, educational developers, entrepreneurs, industry leaders, and policymakers to address current challenges and advances in the field of technology-enhanced learning.
ECTEL 2025: Call for Papers
The Twentieth European Conference on Technology-Enhanced Learning (ECTEL 2025) will take place from 15-19 September 2025 in Newcastle and Durham, UK. The conference theme is "Two Decades of TEL: from Lessons Learnt to Challenges Ahead."
ECTEL 2025 is a face-to-face conference that engages researchers, practitioners, educational developers, entrepreneurs, industry leaders, and policymakers to address current challenges and advances in the field.
Theme
This milestone conference aims to explore the key factors and critical questions that have shaped the TEL landscape and promise to influence the future of education. We are interested in submissions that address technological breakthroughs, pedagogical, social, and policy-driven advancements, and how TEL can meet diverse learning needs, adapt to societal changes, and create sustainable, inclusive learning environments.
Submission Types
We call for submissions through the following formats:
- Full research papers (8-15 pages, including references)
- Milestone research papers (8-15 pages, including references) - reflecting on key outcomes, developments, projects, and transformative moments in TEL.
- Blue-sky research papers (8-15 pages, including references) - envisioning the future of TEL and addressing future challenges.
- Poster papers (4-6 pages, including references) - reporting on significant work-in-progress research and developments.
- Demonstration papers (4-6 pages, including references) - describing innovative TEL applications, practices, and prototypes.
- Workshop proposals
- Doctoral Consortium (5-10 pages, including references) - for PhD candidates to present and discuss their research.
- Industry and Practitioner Track (8-15 pages, including references and appendices) - showcasing real-world implementations and practical insights.
Conference Topics
The topics of interest are grouped into the following six blocks:
- Pedagogical and theoretical underpinnings of TEL
- Individual factors in TEL
- Technologies supporting TEL
- Contexts of TEL
- TEL policies, ethics and fairness
- International, national and organisational aspects of TEL

Submission Guidelines
Double-blind Review
All papers submitted to ECTEL (except Doctoral Consortium submissions) will be reviewed through a double-blind process.
- Authors must submit their manuscripts without any reference to themselves and their institutions.
- Avoid including URLs to projects, products, or self-developed systems.
- Self-references should be blinded or written in the third person.
Preparing Your Submission
- Consult Springer’s authors’ guidelines for research, poster, and demonstration papers.
- Use the supplied LaTeX template (also available on Overleaf) or Word template.
- Ensure the paper does not exceed the allocated number of pages and does not include appendices.
- Upload your submission to the ECTEL 2025 EasyChair submission system.
Publication
- Accepted research, poster, and demo papers will be published in Springer "Lecture Notes in Computer Science" (LNCS) Series.
- Doctoral Consortium papers will be published in CEUR Workshop Proceedings (CEUR-WS).
- At least one author of each accepted submission must register for the conference by the camera-ready deadline for the paper to be included in the proceedings.
Open Science
Authors are encouraged to embrace Open Science best practices, such as pre-registration of research and sharing data and code for replication purposes.
