Call for Papers - ICTSS 2025

The 37th International Conference on Testing Software and Systems (ICTSS 2025) is a well-established event where researchers, developers, testers, and users from academia and industry gather to present and discuss the most recent innovations, experiences, and open challenges related to testing software and systems and measuring software quality.

The conference will take place from Wednesday, September 17 to Friday, September 19, 2025, in Limassol, Cyprus, and is co-located with ECSA 2025.

Topics of Interest

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

  • AI for Software Testing and Testing of AI: Including the use of AI in software testing and the testing/validation of AI systems/applications.
  • Aspects of testing: Test derivation, selection, generation, coverage, concretization, execution, result analysis, test oracles, verdict computation, management, active testing, passive testing, monitoring, and runtime verification.
  • Testing new technologies: Special encouragement for submissions on testing Large Language Models (LLMs), auditing machine learning systems (especially for health applications), and Quantum systems.
  • Diversity on testing: Diverse generation, selecting diverse test suites, foundations of testing and diversity, applications of entropy and Kolmogorov complexity on test suite diversity.
  • Theoretical approaches: Formalisms (automata, state machines, process algebra, logics, Markov-chains), testing frameworks, compositionality, refinement, soundness, completeness, and addressing complex, heterogeneous, or hybrid systems.
  • Modelling languages and associated tooling for model-based testing: Test generation from models, model-based oracles, scalability, traceability, quantification, automated support, testing processes, test-driven development, and sound metrics.
  • Testing of quality aspects: Functional, interoperability, unit, integration, performance, load, conformance, non-regression, reliability, and robustness.
  • Security Testing: Methodologies for continuous security assessment, monitoring, penetration testing, verification of compliance, and automation of security testing.
  • Testing emerging technologies: Quantum systems, genetic algorithms, metaverse, and other early-stage technologies.
  • Human Aspects of Testing: The role of human psychology and management in testing practices.
  • Cross domains and combination of techniques: Utilizing proof, model-checking, symbolic execution, static analysis, simulation, machine learning, etc., to improve quality and reduce testing effort.
  • Application aspects and case studies: Communicating systems (cyberphysical, embedded, web services, cloud computing, real-time, distributed), and industrial applications with empirical evaluations.

Submission Types

  • Full papers: (12 to 15 pages plus at most 2 extra pages for references) describing original research contributions with sufficient evidence. Format: one-column Springer LNCS.
  • Industry papers: (12 to 15 pages plus at most 2 extra pages for references) describing original research or experience reports from industrial environments. Format: one-column Springer LNCS.
  • Short papers or work-in-progress papers: (up to 6 pages plus at most 1 extra page for references) describing academic work in progress, tool implementations, or testing processes. Format: one-column Springer LNCS.
  • Journal-First (JF) submissions: Recent journal accepted papers (Jan 1, 2023 or later) within the scope of ICTSS. Submission is a 4-page extended abstract providing a concise summary of the published paper. Must include full bibliographic details (including DOI). These submissions will not be reviewed technically again but judged on complementarity to the program.

Important Dates (General Track)

  • Submission of Papers: Monday, June 16, 2025
  • Notification of Acceptance: Monday, July 14, 2025
  • Camera-ready and author registration: Monday, July 28, 2025

Note: Deadlines may differ for special tracks. Please consult the conference home page for details.

Submissions should be made through the Easychair system: https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=ictss2025

Publication

Papers will be published by Springer in the LNCS volume.

Best papers will be invited to submit an extended version to a special issue of the Springer Nature of Computer Science. The deadline for this is near the end of December 2025.

Formatting Guidelines

Authors should consult Springer’s Instructions for Authors of Proceedings and use either the LaTeX or the Word templates provided on the authors’ page. Springer’s proceedings LaTeX templates are available in Overleaf.

Authors are encouraged to include their ORCID in their papers.
